Blast from the Past
This stone inlay proudly labeled the old Augusta High School on State Street, which became part of the Augusta Junior High (south building) when the new Augusta High School opened in 1970. The inlay was saved when the old building was demolished for the construction of the current Augusta Middle School in 1995. It was then placed in its current position, above the doors leading out to the stadium from the 1995 addition to AHS, which included a second competition-sized gymnasium, weightlifting room, wrestling room and health/P.E. classrooms on the east end of the building and a large new wing of classrooms on the west end.
