I am very honored to be able to serve on the Board of Education, and I truly believe in our mission. In Augusta, Student Achievement is #1.
I moved to Augusta in 1985 and am serving my fifth year on the Board of Education. Professionally, I have worked in higher education for the past 34 years, holding positions in admissions at both Southwestern College and Wichita State University. I served for three years as the Director of Academic and Student Affairs at the University of Kansas School of Medicine - Wichita. Currently, I am the Vice-President for Student Services at Butler Community College. I have held this position for the past 20 years. I hold an Associate of Science from Coffeyville Community College, a Bachelor of Science from Southwestern College in Winfield, and a Masters in Educational Administration and Supervision.
I am married to the former Theresa Cannady, a 1979 graduate of Augusta High School. Together we have seven children: Brooke and Brandon, Matt, Heather, Shawn, Megan and Sam. We have one granddaughter, Sydni. Sam and Sydni are currently a 6th graders at Augusta Middle School. All of our other children have graduated from Augusta High School. I served on the Augusta Girls Softball Association, Inc. Board of Directors for a number of years and coached all of my daughters in softball while they were growing up in Augusta.
