Additionally, the Sunflower Virtual Academy has been established as a virtual school for grades 9th-12th. Both OpenEd and the Sunflower Virtual Academy are open to all Kansas students.

The program provides Kansas families a combination of trusted curricula and guidance with room for flexibility and customization to fit the needs of each student.
The program, launching for K-8 students, represents an innovative approach to student-centered learning within public education. Students will be fully enrolled in Augusta School District while gaining opportunities to learn in ways that match their individual interests and needs. The district will provide Kansas-certified teachers, state-approved curriculum, and a wide range of resources and support that allow for the creation of personalized learning plans and flexible schedules.
